Search Engine
Search Engine is just a database. The word engine means database. It is much simpler than people imagine. Many Internet users are not clear to the differences among Google, Yahoo, Amazon and eBay. All of them can be searched. In fact, they are the same. Their databases return the results when you search. The search results of Google and Yahoo are messy, because spiders collect various Web pages. The data of Amazon and eBay, by contrast, are imported by hand. Thus, you can be pleasure in Amazon and eBay and weary in Google and Yahoo. Besides, you can sort the search results by price, alphabet, relevance, etc in Amazon and eBay. Google and Yahoo cannot provide this service. The search results of Amazon and eBay are the newest, because they directly come from databases. However, in order to enhance the speed, search engines do not get data from databases directly. They use spiders to collect contents on the Internet. Unfortunately, these spiders mostly go to news Websites and then update the databases. Therefore, most contents are old. Finally, they make the data into a file, which is almost a .pdf file. In fact, you just find characters in a file when you search in search engines. It is the same that you just find characters in Adobe Reader: [Edit]--[Find] or press "Ctrl+F" key. Definitely, it finds characters one by one. Finding all the characters at one time is usually called “search”. You can also search characters in Adobe Reader: [Edit]--[Search] or press "Shift+Ctrl+F". Search engines will give you tips if you type a wrong word or phrase. For example, they say,”Do you mean money?” if you type moneu in the search box. They will compare it with hot keywords if there are little results. It is nothing wizardly. Microsoft Word or OpenOffice can also check the spelling and give you tips. You just need to press "F7" key. Your browser, not search engines, opens the Web pages after clicking the search results. These Web pages do not belong to search engines. Amazon, eBay, and other online stores are different. The search results are orderly. Besides, the Web pages still belong to these Websites after clicking the search results. If you find an excellent product, service or Website, you would tell it to your friends through email, message of mobile phone or your mouth. In this case, search engines cannot know at all. It can only depend on public Web pages. In fact, many valuable contents are existent on files, not Web pages. Besides, there are millions of search engine optimizers and Web speculators work behind every day. Most results can hardly be useful. Finally, it can only provide general contents for public. It cannot provide professional and qualified results for most people. Unfortunately, most people are professionals in their own fields. Search Engines have been exaggerating its functions. Many people do not enter what they need, or what they want to buy inside the search boxes. Most people just use search engines for navigation. They clearly know the Websites or companies. They just cannot spell the Web addresses or company names correctly. Meanwhile, they use search engines to prevent phishing Websites. Finally, lazy people do not want to type http://www or .com repeatedly. Typing words in the search boxes are much easier than typing Web addresses inside the address bar of browsers. Other people just use them to find news, knowledge or references. Unfortunately, customers go to their favorite online stores, marketplaces, or comparing Websites to find and buy products. They seldom use search engines to do this work. Furthermore, everyone has to eat and drink every day in order to survival. However, most people do not buy the foods after seeing the advertisements on search engines. Similarly, everyone needs a house. However, little people buy houses immediately and crazily, after seeing the advertisements on search engines. In fact, they have been seeing these kinds of advertisements offline every day, but they never take action. Most people do not buy what they need and what they see. They will carefully research and compare, because they have enough choices. In fact, search engines are just advertising agencies. Unlike conventional agencies, search engines are not the partners or clients of media. They are competitors of media. Stupid media have been talking about them and broadcasting news for search engines. They know little about technologies. They have been advertising for their competitors. Then, they find more difficult to get advertisers. Actually, for most people, search engines are as boring as operating systems. Most people take no interest in them at all, although they use search engines and operating systems every day. Everyone use bulbs every day, but little people really take interest in them. Bulbs cannot create values for people. Similarly, search engines and operating systems are useful but not valuable. Sarcastically, they mostly waste people’s time and money. Usually, people who do not have technologies or business brains become editors, journalists and Web speculators. People, who have technologies but no business brains, become engineers, experts and hackers. People, who have business brains but no technologies, become retailers and bagmen. The last people, who have technologies and business brains, become millionaires. Usually, on the right, sponsors stay there. These sponsors are exact, true and absolute advertisers. You should not click them, if you do not buy their products or services. These poor advertisers may have to pay hundreds of US dollars to search engines. Now, you can understand how search engines make a great amount of money with ease. This is called AdWord. Advertisements appear on the search results. AdSense is the tool for Web speculators. The advertisements of AdSense appear on other Websites. Advertisers have to pay much money once you click them.
