Computer Name and Intranet
An individual has to apply for Internet access and pay money from telecom corporations and Internet service providers. Then, the telecom corporations and Internet service providers will add his or her personal information in the database. Definitely, each person has an unique ID in the database. When he or she access the Internet, the telecom corporations and Internet service providers will allocate an temporary IP for him or her according to his or her ID. Most Internet users just visit Websites. They do not visit each other. Therefore, the computer names of various Internet users can be the same. The Intranet is different. The Intranet server cannot create a database of employees. It just simply allocates IP addresses according to the computers of employees. The computer names are used for identification. Vitally, each computer on the Intranet can visit each other directly. Each computer of employees seems like a virtual Website on the Intranet. Similar, each computer name seems like a virtual domain name. Therefore, the Intranet server, which uses Dynamic Host Configure Protocol, cannot allocate IP addresses to the computers, which have the same computer names. To solve this problem is quite easy. You just need to change the computer names. After changing the computer name, you have to restart the computer. Later, it can apply for an IP address from the server on the Intranet.
