  The Accelerators of IE 8 have no relation with acceleration at all. You cannot download Web pages or other things faster. They just provide convenience. As a user, you have to copy the keyword from a Web page first by pressing "Ctrl+C". Then, open the homepage a search engine and then press "Ctrl+V" to paste the keyword inside. The Accelerators just reduce these simple steps.

  Microsoft and Google are good at creating news and concepts.

  The problem of Accelerators is that the speed of IE will be slowed down, if you add many Accelerators. Besides, you can mistakenly click them, and have to close the Web pages frequently. Vitally, you may not know whether these add-ons contain virus, spyware or adware. Anyway, you should be careful. These add-ons are not suitable for everyone.
