Microsoft has released .NET Framework 2.0 SP2. CE has tested the SP2 in Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP. It does not have obvious improvements. It just repairs some errors and loopholes. Definitely, Microsoft does not tell public the details of the improvements. Anyway, CE still recommends you to install the SP2 for security and stability. Note that Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 has some limitations of operating systems. The SP2 shows the following: Supported Operating Systems: Windows Server 2003; Windows XP However, the .NET Framework 2.0 shows: Supported Operating Systems: Windows 2000 Service Pack 3; Windows 98; Windows 98 Second Edition; Windows ME; Windows Server 2003; Windows XP Service Pack 2 It sounds that .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 no longer supports Windows 98 and Windows 2000. At present, CE has not yet tested it at Windows 98 or Windows 2000. You do not have to be disappointed, if you still use these operating systems. Still, you do not have to install the SP2. Much software, which uses C# 2.0 as the program language, can still run perfectly without SP2. These software just uses the surface functions of .NET Framework. The SP2 can just improve the bottom performance. February 15, 2009
